Nuchatlaht Annual Summer Campout

Don't miss out!
Our annual summer campout will be happening again this year at Nuchatlitz; the traditional home territory of the Nuchatlaht First Nation. We will have additional events planned for this year with exciting updates to be shared at the event. 
Deadline for registration:  Monday, July 14th  @ 4:30pm

Why is there a deadline for registration?
There is a registration deadline to ensure we remain within a set event budget, and to allow preparation for the provided dinners.

The Nuchatlaht 2025 Summer Campout will be available to all Nuchatlaht members and their extended family.

Drug and Alcohol free event

This will be a strict drug and alcohol free event.

​Failure to comply may result in confiscation of material(s) and/or removal from campground with return transport back to Oclucje.

The Early Bird day is an opportunity for campers wanting to arrive 1-day early at the campsite in Nuchatlitz.
​Allowing for more time to be spent camping!
Disclaimer: All participants scheduled to arrive one day early will be responsible for their own overnight safety and meals.

Bring Your Own Gear (and supplies)
All camp attendants will be required to bring their own supply of essential gear and supplies as Nuchatlaht will not have any available for use. Please pack accordingly. 
  • Bring your own breakfast and lunch meals 
    ​(with plates & utensils), and your own snack supply
  • Bring your own supply of water for drinking, and personal use
  • Pack all required gear you may need during the campout
  • Pack your medication and personal necessities
Recommended supplies to pack:
  • Prescribed medication
  • Allergy medication
  • Hygienic supplies
  • Afterbite (if needed)
  • Outdoor mosquito repellent
    ​(if needed)
  • Sunscreen and/or
  • ​Aloe Vera gel for sunburns 
Recommended gear to pack:
  • Tent,
  • Sleeping bag(s),
  • Pillow(s),
  • Blanket(s),
  • Foldable chair(s),
  • Cooking equipment,
  • Own supply of propane,
  • Plates and/or bowls,
  • Re-usable cutlery,

  • Wagon for gear transport,
  • Large water container for personal use,
  • Lifejacket(s)
  • Water shoes; rocky terrain

Volunteering

Optional & Flexible
We will have many opportunities for anyone willing to volunteer for various camp duties throughout the weekend. If you are interested in adding your name to the list of volunteers for a certain task, let us know in your registration.
Heavy-load tasks:
  • Loading and/or unloading of camp gear as campers arrive or depart,
  • Refilling of water utilities,
  • Setting up camp shelter(s)
Kitchen tasks:
  • Dinner Meal Preparation -
    Starts @ 3:00PM each day
  • Dinner Cooking -
    Starts @ 4:30PM each day
  • Dishes
Maintenance tasks:
  • Camp garbage collection
  • Fire log splitting

Transportation:

Travel coverage for Nuchatlaht members only:
Fuel reimbursement will be issued for members needing to travel to attend this campout.
​If you are not registered with Nuchatlaht, you must cover your own fuel costs to attend.
Complimentary travel by vessel between Oclucje and Nuchatlitz (the campsite) will be provided on a scheduled basis for all attendees.

40 minutes one way (approximately)
+ up to 30 mins for loading / unloading

expect up to 1:30hr - 2:00hrs per available boat

Please plan your trip to arrive close to the departure times. Schedule is subject to change depending on how many attendees arrive, the timeliness of trips, and local tide levels throughout the day.

    Travel Reimbursement:
    Fuel cost to travel to Oclucje will be reimbursed from the Nation for Nuchatlaht membership only.
